Messy Roots envisions a world where leaders and coaches of color have abundant access to DEI coaching resources. Given that over 85% of employees prefer to work with a coach, the absence of accessible coaches who share their background may hinder the growth of leaders of color. Furthermore, the scarcity of resources, continuous education, and safe spaces could potentially limit the development of coaches of color. Prior to joining our network, over 90% of coaches never received formal coaching trainings. This is compared to 45% of coaches nationally. Through initiatives that foster connection, growth, and certification for coaches of color, we are actively contributing to the advancement of coaches and leaders of color worldwide.

GOALS:

• COC will have the opportunity to network and exchange resources with coaches in similar disciplines, fostering growth.

• COC will gain practical tools to better address the needs of their coachees. Topics discussed: wellness for people of color, reducing burnout, DEI leadership strategies, etc.

• COC will engage in self-reflection, nurturing their journey towards becoming a coach. Coaches will explore storytelling tools and ways to exchange stories with coachees.

• COC who serve as managers to their coachees, will learn how to navigate tough relationships and help their coachess to produce results whether they are in a classroom, board room, or working from home.

• COC who serve as managers will learn coaching strategies to meet the needs of employees when they are working remote/diverse locations.
